The idea: When walking outside in the fall, I find myself stepping on all kinds of beautiful fallen leaves, in all different colors, shapes, cracked or still complete. This beauty is only there for a short period of time, form the moment the leaf falls until nature made it into compost. I wanted to capture this beauty for a longer period of time. That's why I use the leaves to make a pattern in clay. This way, the leaf is captured in stone, staying alive for infinity.
The result: A set of ceramic bowls and plates. A pressed print of the leave in a 4 mm thick layer of clay. Then painted with engobe an glazed with a transparant glaze. For sale at Store 17 in Katwijk aan Zee.
